Bookbinding
Self promotion is coming along slowly but surely! I’m trying not to be such a perfectionist at it all because it’s taking up far too much time, but I can’t help it. I’d hate to send out something that would represent me poorly.
I’ve had some strong ideas in the works but I’m really trying to simplify and refine everything. I do fear that people won’t realise how much time and effort went into some of my work but I don’t want to over complicate things either.
I’ve been learning the art of book binding today! Partially, anyway. Janine Pope has been teaching us about folds and such in paper and how to make some really effective spines and such. It’s been so fun, I kinda feel guilty about it, as it didn’t feel like work at all. We also touched upon stitched spines/binding but hopefully I can get in for some advanced classes on that after summer. It’s really nice to have been able to do this. I haven’t really had any Wednesdays available to do things like this so I’ve been quite lucky to get into her last class of the academic year.
Hopefully I can remember everything I’ve been told and apply it to some of my projects! I’m already trying to customise some of the ideas she showed us to apply to part of my self promotion.
Sorry no photographs just yet!

Will email some Accordion tips.
Thank you – l.twizell@gmail.com – I’ve almost figured out what I’m doing, hard to relate it back to anything else I’ve found so I’ve created a plan/net for a very custom style.
You must upload some photographs once you have a finished product.
Will do! I was thinking of photographing the prototypes I’ve made but they’re really rough right now so maybe once I’ve tested a new copy I can get some snaps!
I’ll bet those testers are just as interesting.
Bookbinding sounds really hard from what I hear. It’ll be interesting to see what you were taught.
