London calling

These past few weeks have been great. Working in a top branding and graphic design agency at quite a busy time while they’re working on some huge names. It’s very exciting and inspiring. Not really sure how much I’m allowed to say but I’ve been having great fun and am working alongside an amazing bunch of people.

I was away from London at a family wedding on my first weekend here but I managed to go on an adventure around East London on the weekend just gone. That was really fun. It’s great having been here throughout the entire Olympics. It’s a really cool feeling, the city is buzzing and beautiful with the flashes of colour throughout. (Even if the London 2012 logo is quite questionable / hideous)

I visited Boxpark in Shoreditch, wandered up Brick Lane and had a good ol’ ganders around Spitalfields – where I bought some delicious carribean food and fruit punch, before heading over to eat and watch the basketball. It was playing on the big screens round the corner and everyone was enjoying the lovely sunshine.

I then headed into Patisserie Valerie to try (as far as I’m aware) my first ever macaroons. I also bought a huge slice of carrot cake to take home which I ended up giving to a homeless guy I met called Wayne. He was trying his best to get anyones attention to politely ask if they had any spare food. I couldn’t ignore him, there was something quite charming about the guy. We had a good chat, I bought him some lunch and then sent him off to a hostel with some money before heading home myself.

It was a lovely weekend. There’s also an adventure along the Southbank I should have mentioned from last week, which was incredible. (and my trip in a boat along the Thames and under Tower Bridge)

On another note, a bird flew into my face this morning. Not gonna lie, I actually nearly filled my pants with fright. But thanks to this little birdie, I buckled over in pain and spotted £20 on the floor! Life is pretty sweet. I’ve got loads of photos that need to be uploaded at some point. It’s quite difficult to write blog posts and updates, no matter how small, but hopefully I can get a better post together soon.

For now I’ll be enjoying my penultimate week at Rose design studio; only 8 days remain but I will be counting away the hours tomorrow as I’m off for a meal with the other half in the city before a weekend of more adventures.

Will check in again soon with photos and more stories.
